What are the different catalysts for?

Our catalysts are only able to be used with the AM128 silicone base. The Purple Catalyst is for making pourable silicone molds. The Clear Catalyst is also used for making pourable molds that cure white without any odor. The Pink Catalyst is used to make brushable silicone molds.

Can I buy silicone catalyst by itself?

Yes, but only for the AM128 Silicone varieties. The Extra Clear Catalyst available does not work with the AM115T silicone. Please call if you need catalyst for the AM115T silicone.

Can I cure the silicone faster?

Absolutely! The Silicone Accelerator works with the 10:1 silicones such as the AM128 silicone varieties and the AM115T silicone. DO NOT USE THIS WITH THE 1:1 RATIO SILICONES.

My silicone resin is too thick! What can I do?

The Silicone Oil Thinner will reduce the viscosity of the silicone but keep in mind it also lowers the durometer of the silicone making it less durable. DO NOT USE THIS WITH THE 1:1 RATIO SILICONES.

Is there a way to make my AM128 Pourable silicone brushable?

Yes! The Silicone Thickener can be mixed with the silicone base to increase the viscosity of the silicone making it brushable, even when using the Pourable Catalyst. DO NOT USE THIS WITH THE 1:1 RATIO SILICONES.

What can I do to make sure I am measuring out the silicone properly?

The 1:1 silicones are measured by volume which is easy but if you want to make sure you are getting the correct amounts for the 10:1 silicones the Digital Scale set to grams is the way to go. You can set your mixing container on the scale, zero it out, and start pouring your silicone base. Once you have at least 100 grams poured you can add the 10 grams of silicone catalyst required for the proper mix.

How do I keep the silicone from sticking to itself on a multi piece mold?

The Mold Release for Silicone is a petroleum based aerosol specially made to prevent silicone from curing to itself and other silica based items such as glass, some ceramics and porcelains, and other items that may have a silica filler within.

What is the Black Rubber Powder and what is it used for?

The Black Rubber Powder is made from cleaned and recycled tires that have been ground to provide a powdered rubber material perfect for thickening the latex rubber. Brush on four layers of pure latex to form the detail base, then you can mix the Black Rubber Powder into the latex up to a 1:1 ratio. This will decrease the number of latex layers required for your mold.
