At AeroMarine Products, all three of our potting and encapsulating compounds come in black. Our AM 150 Silicone Potting and Encapsulation Rubber, Underwater Urethane 75A Potting Compound, and 300/11 Potting and Encapsulation Epoxy Resin are all available in black. AeroMarine also offers the 300/11 Epoxy in clear amber.
Depending on your project, you may want to choose a black potting compound for privacy reasons. For example, if you’re designing a circuit board for an electrical product, you may not want a competitor to reverse engineer your product and create a similar product from your intellectual property. By encasing or potting your circuit boards and circuitry in black potting compound, your proprietary circuitry will be completely sealed and protected. The AM150 silicone potting compound is great to use when doing testing with new parts as silicone doesn’t adhere to many things and can be easier to remove if a component needs repair or to be replaced.
All three of our black potting compounds have a different pot life and cure time due to their varying chemical structures. Pot time refers to the time you have to work with the product, while cure time refers to the time it takes for the potting compound to completely cure. Below are the pot life times and cure times of our black potting compounds:

Once the epoxy and urethane black potting compounds have completely cured, they are in their final state and you should not need to replace or reapply them. Black epoxy and urethane potting compounds, once cured, create a strong and durable bond that can last years. Even in high-stress areas where electrical equipment may be subject to shock, vibrations, and other impacts, the potting compounds should be able to last. The only time you will need to replace or reapply these black potting compounds is if you notice any peeling, cracking, or any other deformities which can be caused by UV damage. Make sure the black potting compounds are painted or covered from the sun if you are using in an exterior application.
